Climate party in Copenhagen during the climate summit

OC@DGIDuring the climate summit in Copenhagen Dec. 2009, OrangeCamp hosted a CO2 free climate party in Copenhagen. The concert was powered exclusively by the use of solar energy stored in batteries. The system we used was a further development of the system used at Roskilde Festival in 2009, and powered the largest light and sound installation so far.

Our goal for the concert was to raise awareness of climate solutions not necessarily need to be boring, and to inspire young people to create and use alternative solutions to future climate challenges.

The light was the integrated LED lights in tents frontarc and a large number (about 50) LED PAR lamp. The sound was created by a professional PA installation capable of a very high sound pressure. Everything powered by CO2 free power.

The party was primarily for the foreign guests who lived in and around “DGI Byen” during the peoples climate summit, Climate Forum '09. December 12th people had been out to participate in the large climate demonstration. When they came back to “DGI Byen”, the entertainment was ready. A the beginning of the party it was relatively quiet live music while the audience got something to eat and drink. As the mood of the audience rose, we powered up the volume and beat of the music and when DJ went on stage, the audience were near the boiling point.

The event was a huge success and we succeeded our goal of being able to power a even larger live event with CO2 free power.
